The global award for the undersung heroes of travel - tour leaders and guides!

Launched in 2005 in memory of Wanderlust's co-founder Paul Morrison, the Wanderlust World Guide Award is the only independent global award for tour leaders and guides, and it is synonymous with both superlative travel experiences and responsible tourism. Current and past judges include Bill Bryson, Michael Palin, Mark Carwardine and Kate Humble.

Each year, thousands of guides are nominated by their clients, either in writing or through our online nomination form. The guides are then whittled down until a shortlist is produced each March. This is then published in Wanderlust magazine and on the website, and goes viral on social media. Hundreds of further testimonials are then received for the guides. Judging is held over the summer and the results are revealed in the autumn at a ceremony at London's Royal Geographic Society.

The winning and finalist guides receive a Paul Morrison Bursary to spend on furthering their training and skills or on community projects, plus prizes from our sponsors.

The World Guide Awards offer fantastic partnership opportunities (headline, principal or programme) as well as advertising potential. Sponsoring the awards opens your company up to global PR opportunities and access to Wanderlust’s exclusive readership of frequent, discerning, high-spending and responsible travellers, as well as high media value and an audience reach of over 500,000.
